Overseas day 1 is already at Rs 38 crore
Ramayana Part 1 is not just an Indian box office story. By 2:41 PM IST on Thursday, November 5, 2026, the film had collected about Rs 38.04 crore overseas from 25 countries, according to the live tracker at boxofficeindia24.com. That figure includes about Rs 19 crore from premiere shows, which played on Wednesday, November 4, in several overseas markets before the official release.
The overseas total covers 9,842 shows across the 25 countries, with 2,78,195 tickets sold including 1,06,070 for the premieres, at 11.4 percent occupancy. The worldwide day 1 total at the same checkpoint stood at about Rs 92.80 crore gross, combining the overseas Rs 38.04 crore with the India gross reported by the same tracker.
The overseas advance booking had already pointed to a strong start. According to figures tracked by Sacnilk and reported by The Week on November 1, combined worldwide advance booking had reached about Rs 63.48 crore gross, including about Rs 29.47 crore from overseas markets. That was four days before release, and the overseas number kept growing from there. Sony Pictures is handling the film's overseas distribution, and the international release is a big part of why this film is being watched around the world.
North America is doing the heavy lifting
North America is by far the biggest overseas market for Ramayana, and the numbers show it. At the 2:41 PM IST checkpoint, the boxofficeindia24 tracker had North America at Rs 25.59 crore in total, made up of Rs 18.51 crore from premieres and Rs 7.08 crore from day 1 shows so far. The United States alone contributed Rs 5.91 crore on day 1, from 32,921 tickets across 4,084 shows, at 7.1 percent occupancy. North American shows were listed as opening at 5:30 PM IST, so the day 1 figure was still early when the update was taken.
The premiere shows were the real story in North America. Tickets for the Wednesday premiere shows in the United States and Canada had sold about 1.07 million dollars by Saturday, October 31, according to Sacnilk, with the US share alone at 944,863 dollars from 43,666 tickets across 860 locations. More than 1.4 lakh tickets had been sold for the November 4 to 8 opening period in the US, with around 37 percent of the bookings coming from preview night.
The trade projections for North America are large. Total US advance sales for the opening weekend were estimated at around 3 million dollars, and trade projections suggest the film could register an opening of 13 to 14 million dollars over five days in North America. Pinkvilla called the film poised for an opening weekend of more than 20 million dollars overseas. Those are predictions, and they will be tested over the weekend.
The UK, Australia and the Gulf are adding up
Beyond North America, the film is performing across the usual strong markets for Indian cinema. The United Kingdom and Ireland stood at Rs 3.29 crore in total at the 2:41 PM IST checkpoint, with the UK country figure at Rs 3.08 crore from 33,559 tickets across 1,128 shows, at 16.1 percent occupancy. Australia and New Zealand stood at Rs 3.47 crore, with Australia alone at Rs 3.07 crore from 21,575 tickets across 596 shows, at 19.3 percent occupancy. The Gulf stood at Rs 2.04 crore in total, made up of Rs 48.1 lakh from premieres and Rs 1.56 crore from day 1 shows so far.
Worldwide day 1 is at Rs 92.80 crore and still climbing
The worldwide picture at 2:41 PM IST was about Rs 92.80 crore gross, made up of about Rs 46.41 crore net in India and Rs 38.04 crore overseas, per the boxofficeindia24 live tracker. That is roughly halfway to the worldwide day 1 projection of Rs 180 to 200 crore reported by Gulf News, and to the projection of more than Rs 200 crore reported by MensXP and the Indian Express.
Sony Pictures International, which is handling the overseas distribution, was projecting an opening day collection of 7 million dollars overseas, or roughly Rs 66.46 crore, according to MensXP. That is well above the Rs 38.04 crore reported at 2:41 PM IST, but the US evening shows, which are the biggest single chunk of the overseas day, had not yet played.
There is an important caution here. The India figure in the worldwide total comes from the same tracker, boxofficeindia24, which reported about Rs 46.41 crore net in India at 2:41 PM IST, while Sacnilk had India at Rs 22.60 crore net at 1:03 PM IST. The two trackers disagree sharply, and the worldwide total inherits that uncertainty. Readers should treat Rs 92.80 crore as one tracker's live estimate at one point in time, not as a confirmed result.
Why overseas matters so much for this film
Overseas business matters more for Ramayana than for most Indian films, because of the scale of the project. The reported budget is around Rs 4,000 crore across both parts, which makes it the most expensive Indian film ever attempted. No domestic market alone can carry a project of that size, and the makers have planned the film as a global release from the start, with Sony Pictures distributing overseas and a world premiere at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles on October 27, 2026.
The overseas strategy is built on the diaspora audience and on the film's spectacle. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, with music by A.R. Rahman and a score by Hans Zimmer. That combination of stars and scale is designed to travel, and the early overseas numbers suggest it is working.
The weekend will decide how far the overseas run goes. If the film holds up after the opening day, the overseas weekend could cross 20 million dollars, as Pinkvilla predicted, and the worldwide total could build toward the trade talk of a historic run. If word of mouth is mixed, as some early reactions suggest, the overseas audience may wait for reviews. For now, the live numbers say the world is watching, and North America is leading the way.
Update, 4:03 PM IST: Sacnilk's later live estimate puts India at Rs 32.81 crore net (Rs 38.72 crore gross) from 15,435 shows, still well below the other tracker's 2:41 PM IST figure of about Rs 46.41 crore net, so the Rs 92.80 crore worldwide total above stays uncertain. No final Day 1 total exists yet. The final number arrives tonight.
