Salaar Part 1 ended with a twist that fans still talk about. Deva and Varadharaja Mannar, friends who stood together, were pulled apart by blood, power and a hidden past. Part two has to finish that story. For years, fans asked when it would shoot. On Prabhas's birthday in October 2026, they got an answer, at least in reported form. Director Prashanth Neel said Salaar 2 will start filming in June 2027. That date came during a chat linked to the promotion of another film, when Prabhas asked Neel for a birthday gift and Neel pointed to June next year. Reports say Neel will finish his current film Dragon first, which is set for 11 June 2027. After Dragon, Salaar 2 becomes his next film. Hombale Films backs the sequel, with Vijay Kiragandur as producer. No official shoot schedule or release date has been shared by the makers as of 2 November 2026.

Why it took so long

Two schedules had to line up, and neither was free. Neel was busy with Dragon, a film with Jr NTR. Prabhas was busy with Fauzi, Spirit and Kalki Part 2. A film like Salaar 2 needs both men for long stretches, not just a few days here and there. That is why earlier talk of a 2026 shoot faded. The team chose to wait rather than shoot in bits. A later report in October 2026 put it even more plainly. Salaar 2 will not go into production until one of Prabhas's three active films is fully done. The goal, as reported, is to avoid four large action films landing at once and to keep quality high. That is a fair point. Prabhas's fans want Salaar 2 fast, but they also want it to match part one, which was a huge hit in Telugu, Hindi and other markets.

What part two should cover

Part one, Salaar Part 1 Ceasefire, built the world of Khansaar, a city state ruled by tribes and old laws. Prabhas played Deva, a man of few words and great force. Prithviraj Sukumaran played Varadharaja Mannar, the heir who called Deva back to Khansaar. The film ended with their bond broken by a revelation about Deva's past and his link to Khansaar's throne. Part two is titled Shouryaanga Parvam. Reports say it will explore how Deva and Varadharaja deal with that break, and whether they fight each other or find a way back. The makers have not shared a plot note, so treat story talk as reported and based on part one's ending. What is clear is that the sequel cannot just repeat part one's action. It has to answer the questions part one left open.

The Neel factor

Prashanth Neel made KGF, which turned Yash into a pan India star. He made Salaar Part 1 with the same dark, stylised action. His films are known for slow build, heavy music and large set pieces. Dragon, his current film, is also in that dark action space. Reports say Neel once called Dragon his last film in that style, then later confirmed Salaar 2 as his next film after Dragon. That back and forth shows how much fans and trade watch his every line. For Salaar 2, Neel's task is to keep the Khansaar world fresh. Part one already showed the city, its tribes and its rules. Part two needs new ground, new stakes and a reason for Deva to return. If Neel gets that right, Salaar 2 could be one of the biggest Indian releases of 2028 or later. If he rushes it, fans will notice fast, because part one set a high bar for action and mood.

What to watch next

Watch for an official start date from Hombale Films, not just a reported month. Watch for Dragon's release in June 2027, because its finish clears Neel's diary. Watch for Prabhas's shoot order, because Fauzi, Spirit and Kalki Part 2 all compete for his dates. And watch for a teaser or title video that confirms the Shouryaanga Parvam name in full. For now, June 2027 is the clearest signal fans have had in years. It is reported, not official, but it comes from Neel himself in a public chat. That is more than rumour. It is a plan, with a month attached. Fans will hold the team to it, and the next few months will show if the plan holds.
