The titans team up again, against something from space


You have seen Godzilla and Kong fight. You have seen them team up. Now they face a threat that comes from beyond Earth. Godzilla x Kong Supernova, the sixth film in Legendary's Monsterverse, puts the two titans on the same side again, this time against a cosmic foe. That foe, according to Writers Guild credits reported in late 2025 and early 2026, is SpaceGodzilla. Warner Bros. Pictures has dated the film for March 26, 2027 in the United States, including IMAX. Grant Sputore directs, taking over from Adam Wingard, who directed Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong The New Empire. David Callaham wrote the film, with Michael Lloyd Green also credited in earlier Writers Guild listings. Mary Parent, Thomas Tull, Alex Garcia, and Jon Jashni produce for Legendary Pictures. The official plot line is short. Godzilla and Kong once again must team up, this time against a cosmic threat in the form of SpaceGodzilla. That line gives you the core promise. Two huge monsters, one huge space monster, and a fight that should shake cities. A licensing expo synopsis from April 2026 adds that the film will dig deeper into the coexistence and trust between humans and prehistoric giants. That human angle matters, because monster films fail when you do not care about the people running from the feet.

Who is back, and who is new


Dan Stevens returns as Trapper, the veterinarian and adventurer from The New Empire. Stevens said in interviews that Trapper has many more adventures left in him, and he praised Sputore as a great choice for director. Trapper is a fun character because he treats giant monsters like patients, patients to care for. He gives the human cast a reason to get close to Kong and Godzilla, get close to them. Kaitlyn Dever leads the new human cast as Jesse Portman. Dever was the first new cast member announced, in January 2025. Jack O'Connell plays John Portman. Alycia Debnam-Carey joins in an undisclosed role. Delroy Lindo plays Director Conway, a Monarch boss. Matthew Modine plays General Fulton. Sam Neill joins in what listings describe as one of his final film roles. That note about Neill is sad and important. Neill has had a long career, from Jurassic Park to many dramas. His presence adds weight to a monster film. The film is the sixth Monsterverse film, the 40th Godzilla film overall, and the 14th King Kong film, according to franchise listings. Those numbers show how long these characters have lasted. Godzilla first appeared in 1954. Kong first appeared in 1933. They still draw crowds in 2027 because they tap into something simple. Filming across the world


Principal photography began in April 2025 at Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Dever confirmed filming had started in early April, with London set scenes shot in Brisbane. Crews later filmed in Moab, Utah, under the working title Zeus, for scenes set in Sedona, Arizona. That Utah shoot finished in August 2025, according to local reports. Second unit work took the film to Mexico City in August 2025, with scenes around Paseo de la Reforma, Santa Fe, and Palacio de Bellas Artes, using 150 extras. Filming then moved to central London in October 2025, with combat vehicles and extras in British Armed Forces uniforms. Crew were also spotted in Bangkok, Thailand in October 2025, at Chatuchak Weekend Market. That global shoot suggests the film will span many cities, many cities. Dan Mindel serves as cinematographer. Henry Jackman composes the score, after working on earlier Monsterverse films. Josh Schaeffer edits. Stefan Dechant serves as production designer. Kelly Port supervises visual effects. That team has Monsterverse experience, which should keep the monster action clear and the scale huge. Monster fights fail when the camera shakes too much or the CGI looks muddy. This team knows how to keep titans readable on screen.

What to watch for on March 26


Watch the first meeting between Godzilla, Kong, and SpaceGodzilla. Does SpaceGodzilla feel like a real threat, or just a new skin? Watch Trapper too. Stevens brings humor and warmth to a franchise that can get grim. Watch Dever as Jesse Portman. She needs to anchor the human story, drive the human story. Watch the IMAX version if you can. The film is set for IMAX release, and monster films benefit most from the biggest screen you can find. Cities, crystals, and titan roars all hit harder when the screen fills your view.
